VNA

Our lab is equipped with the E5072A ENA Series Vector Network Analyzer (VNA) from Keysight.

The main features and functions of this VNA are:

  • 30 kHz to 8.5 GHz measurement frequency range.
  • 2-port.
  • Improved accuracy, yield and margins with wide dynamic range 130 dB / 151 dB (direct receiver access), measurement speed 7 msec and excellent temperature stability 0.005 dB/°C.
  • Increased test flexibility with wide source power range -109 to +20 dBm for linear and nonlinear device characterization.

Our group is interested to theoretically design and experimentally verify reconfigurable and nonlinear microwave and RF technologies based on metamaterials.

Some applications of the envisioned new technology are: a) adaptive miniaturized metamaterial antennas for efficient and dynamic polarization, frequency, and bandwidth control; b) field-programmable metamaterial antennas; c) adaptive linear and nonlinear radio frequency components such as filters and data converters. Our ultimate goal is to design the next generation antenna structures and microwave components with new and improved functionalities.
